2 hours to go...the excitement is building and alumni from the past ten years just joined the crowd in the line dance. We are about to begin "Family Hour", a time in which families and children from the Hospital visit the marathon and share their stories. I better go fold some chairs, but I'll be back soon with more...

Wow...I can't believe we are just over halfway!! Things have been pretty exciting here all throughout the night. So far, in between crazy dancing power hours, basketball games and a trip out to Kenan we've had some pretty cool things happening here. Will Ferrell came and surprised the dancers with a bit of motivation late in the night. Another really cool thing was a surprise engagement that happened overnight. It was really cool to see the sweet video that the guy prepared and how he was kneeling waiting for her when she turned around after being convinced to come up on stage thinking she had won a prize. I'm excited about the day to come and all the performances we still have coming up like the Loreleis and the Clef Hangers. Well that's it for now...so far things are going well!

Moraler - 1:45am
Wow I can't believe it is akready Saturday morning. This year instead of dancing I decided to Morale and it was absolutely one of the best decisions of my sophomore year. I have met so many amazing people who will truly be my life long friends. My comitttee rocks and tonight is was so amazing to see 6 months of our hard work pay off. From the costumes to the line dance to acting like a fool, I couldnt be happier right now. I am super excited about the fact that later on in the morning I am going to get to host the marathon and see some more great campus and community acts strut their stuff. Dance Marathon has had some crazy moments and we arent even halfway through. I am so proud of the Overall Committee and the amazing work they have done to make this such an amazing marathon. The moralers that have shown up in the last two shifts have truly raised the excitement of the marathon if that is even possible. This is such an adrenaline rush and I am so stoked to see where the next part of the marathon is headed. Thanks to everyone who has given their time, talents and support. DM Ten is rocking out!!!!

Its pretty amazing its already Saturday. I must say--Friday night was incredible. Not only was the Marathon introduced by Tar Heel basketball favoites Deon Thompson, Danny Green, and Bobby Frasor, but Roy Williams made a surprise appearance two hours later. But not even that was the best part of Friday night.
Around 11:00, a message went over the OC's walkie-talkies that someone blew past security and entered the dancer area. After running to find the culprit we discovered something amazing...it was Will Ferrell! He snuck on stage and spoke to hundreds of screaming dancers ..truly an incredible moment.

Friday, 11:00p.m., First Year Dancer
i have to say that this was definitely an impulsive decision. i think i knew it had to be like that, or else i'd come up with too many reasons not to do dance marathon. when i saw the crazy people in the pit, doing choreographed dances in fabulous 80s get-ups, i knew that i needed to do dance marathon. so, on my way home, to lovely, lovely south campus (hooray for being a freshman!) i made the decision to sign up.
now, i'm here. it's been five hours. i think i've counted the times i've yawned, and it's only been 3 or so. i'm hoping to keep it under 10. i'm completely neglecting my homework, but i know it's for a fantastic cause. i had to laugh when i saw the study section in the back, nice bar tables set up so you could lean and submit things on blackboard. so, there's no reason NOT to do DM. you can ever come and do homework for 24 hours...so even the most dedicated student should come.
so.....do it next year! i'll be here in one form or another :)

Well, the electricity from the initial kick-off has died down a bit, but the energy is still high throughout Fetzer Gym. So far things are running incredibly smoothly. The Administration had to cancel their performance at the last minute, but everyone rebounded without even a second thought and we are planning on playing a game of singled out instead - Holla MTv circa 1994. Things are going so well that a lot of people have the feeling that we are forgetting something - luckily we're not. I don't have much to update you on at this moment, but stay tuned for a ton of surprises planned throughout the night.
Setting Up - Friday, 5:30pm
Wow...I cannot believe it is Friday, February 22nd, 2008! It seems like I have been counting down to this day for years! Everything is coming together amazingly well! Moralers are arriving, dressed as if they are headed to their 1991 Prom to jam out to New Kids on the Block. The OC and Operations got up at an hour earlier than they have seen since coming to college. And the atmosphere is full of the the magic, energy, and fun that is the UNC Dance Marathon. At this moment, over 1,100 students are packing their deodorant and toothbrush, reading one last dancer email, and trying to get rid of those nerves that come with knowing you are about to stand for the next 24 hours of your life. The thing that they don't know is that this is also about to be the most rewarding 24 hour experience they will have at UNC. So, on that note...let's get started!
